The Joy of Music

🎶I am a lover of music!

🎸I love listening to it, going to live music events and rumour has it that I enjoy playing music. But if I let myself, I can get eaten with guilt as I was a pretty talented pianist and harpist (and played the violin and sang) back in my heyday.

🎵My harp has looked like a pretty piece of furniture adorning my house over the last few years, gently dusted as part of the housework rather than lovingly strummed, so I’m going to shed away the guilt and instead carve out the time to get back into playing it, alongside figuring out where to put a piano in a house filled with Lego / Transformers / Star Wars figures / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on almost every surface (I’m married to a magnificent man child).

🎤I loved being in a Rock Choir a few years ago but had to stop going due to time constraints (crazy hours working into the evenings as a teacher) so this year I signed up for the Rock Choir in Southport, even though some might say my singing should be confined to the shower! I am loving my Wednesday mornings pelting out classics with such lovely people around me - it’s a laugh a minute with our choir director too! It ‘s the most uplifting mid week activity I could imagine!

🎹I gave my piano away when I moved out of my house into here and I do miss tinkling the ivories.

💗Luckily I have people who will hold me accountable for this – ME (most importantly), my hubbie, my friends and family. Watch this space for a resurrection of my musical talent.

🎶When I’m feeling low, music is my go to pick me up and I find it soothing when I need some comforting self care time.

🎷I absolutely love the sound of a Gospel choir and a saxaphone - both are guaranteed to send shivers through me.

🎻Music evokes memories and emotions through capturing your senses. Often it can be very difficult to remember stories or characteristics, but when you listen to a piece of music, memories can come flooding back.

🥁Music connects people - I love being at a gig and seeing someone else’s face light up at the same time as me or getting into sync with someone else’s dance moves.

🎤Dancing in the Kitchen; Kitchen Disco; Kitchen Rave … need I say more?
